Sunnier skies, warmer temps expected in the PNW Wednesday

Sunnier skies return for the Portland-Vancouver metro area Wednesday. Sunshine and fewer clouds are expected to increase in the Portland-Vancouver metro area on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to reach the mid to upper 70s. The early summer-like heat will continue to push temperatures above average through Thursday, with the peak expected to arrive on Thursday. However, a trough of cooler air will return over the Pacific Northwest late Thursday and will remain through the weekend, with a few isolated rain showers possible late Friday and linger through weekend. More rain is possible by the start of next week. The return of moisture over Oregon and Washington will help keep the Pacific Pacific Northwest's fire season at bay for another week or two.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Sunnier skies return for the Portland-Vancouver metro area on Wednesday.

More sunshine and fewer clouds will help afternoon and evening temperatures warm into the mid to upper 70s on Wednesday. The early summer-like heat will continue to push temperatures above average through Thursday. The peak of the latest round of heat is expected to arrive Thursday.

The above-average temperatures will come to an end by the end of the week and last through the weekend. A trough of cooler air will settle back over the Pacific Northwest late Thursday and stay through the start of next week.

Not only will the trough of cooler air return, but clouds and the chance of rain will do the same. A few isolated rain showers are possible late Friday and linger through the weekend. More accumulative rain is possible by the start of next week.

The chance for rain and cooler temperatures is a welcome sight. The return of moisture over Oregon and Washington will help keep the Pacific Northwest’s fire season at bay for another week or two.
