The Portland-Vancouver metro area will see its first 9 p.m. sunset of the year on Wednesday, marking the start of summer daylight hours. The summer solstice is also the longest day of year, with Portland expected to see a total of 15 hours and 41 minutes of daylight. Daylight hours will continue to grow in the northern hemisphere through June 20, 2024. The sun will set as late as 9:03pm by June 20 and set that late until the end of the month before July 9.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Summer daylight hours are here as the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area will see its first 9 p.m. sunset of the year on Wednesday.
The summer solstice is quickly approaching along with the longest day of the year. Sunrises have progressively gotten earlier and sunsets later ever since the winter solstice on December 21, 2023. Daylight hours will continue to grow in the northern hemisphere through the summer solstice on June 20, 2024.
Wednesday will mark the first 9 p.m. hour sunset of the summer season. The sun will eventually set as late as 9:03 p.m. by June 20 and will continue to set that late until the end of the month. The first day of July brings a minute earlier sunset, but the 9 p.m. hour sunset will continue until July 9.
The summer solstice is known as the longest day of the year where Portland will see a grand total of 15 hours and 41 minutes of daylight.
