Preble Street, Good Shepherd and Hannaford team up to fight hunger
There is a group effort to get tens of thousands of meals to hungry Mainers over the next year. Preble Street, Good Shepherd and Hannaford are leading a group effort to provide tens of thousands of meals to hungry Mainers over the next year. The initiative aims to provide 100,000 meals to people experiencing food insecurity across all of Maine's 16 counties, including rural areas, the elderly, and those experiencing homelessness. Organizers say it takes a team to combat food insecurity due to cuts to SNAP and rising costs. Preble Street Executive Director Mark Swann emphasized the need for partners, staff, farms, volunteers, and more. The group opened their food security hub a year ago and has already done so much to help combat food insecure.
