Surveillance footage from a home security camera in Portland, Oregon, has chillingly revealed the moment when a woman, in sheer terror, sought refuge at a local residence after jumping from her kidnapper’s moving vehicle.
The footage, which was obtained by KATU, shows the 47-year-old woman — whose identity has not been revealed — hiding at around 1:30 a.m. Friday in the driveway of an unknown Portland homeowner after escaping from the suspect, who was allegedly armed with a machete.
Immediately after, the woman can be seen rushing toward the front porch and frantically pounding on the door as the kidnapper’s vehicle is visible at the driveway’s end.
“He’s trying to abduct me,” the frantic woman is heard shouting while on the phone with 911.
Mere moments later, the alleged captor drives off, leaving the scene as the victim watches.
The Portland Police Bureau explained in a statement that the woman had been walking home when Ra Fet, 25, stopped to offer her a lift. She accepted, yet soon after, Fet began making unwanted sexual comments and groped her.
It was reported by KATU that Fet pulled the car into a restaurant’s parking lot, where he brandished a machete.
As the victim attempted to get out of the car, Fet accelerated, inhibiting her exit. The victim began to struggle against Fet, who then struck her in the face, as detailed by the Portland Police Bureau.
Eventually, the car slowed, allowing the woman to jump out, despite receiving a blow to the nose in the process. She then ran until finding refuge in the driveway where the security footage was recorded.
Police found and stopped Fet’s car less than an hour later. During the resulting traffic stop, they allowed the victim to confirm his identity as her assailant.
Subsequently arrested, Fet was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center, where he faces charges including First Degree Kidnapping, First Degree Sexual Abuse, Coercion, Menacing, Fourth Degree Assault, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
In court, Fet pleaded not guilty to the cases against him, and it was determined that he would remain detained without bond at the detention center.
Prior run-ins with the law include an instance in May 2023 when Fet reportedly approached a family’s home, threatening them with a firearm, and shot at their vehicle’s tires. He faced charges of menacing and criminal mischief following that event.
Alarmingly, Portland has witnessed 22 kidnapping reports in April alone, a count nearly rivaling the 26 total kidnappings recorded in the whole of 2023, as informated by KATU.
